King of the Mountains Championship
2008 brings the KING OF THE MOUNTAIN 3 race championship. Racers will compete at the Apple Blaster, Coyote Hill Classic and Mt. Snow events to see who is the K.O.M. Racers must compete in all 3 hill climbs, points to be awarded to top 10 in the posted categories (see series categories) and the racer with the highest points total at the Mt. Snow final (in each category)will be awarded the inaugural K.O.M. polka dot jersey.
Root 66 Short Track Series
Racers competing in 4 of 5 short track series races this season will be eligible to be crowned Root 66 Short Track King or Queen! Riders will be awarded points based on top 10 placings in each race which will be tallied for top 3 podium spots. Medals will be awarded to top 3 racers in each category along with bragging rights after the final short track race. The 4 short track races are:
- Winsted Woods April 19
- Coyote Hill May 24
- Channel 3 June 7
- Apple Blaster June 21
- Landmine September 6
Suggestion AND Solution Box
This season we want to hear from you!! At each Root 66 race venue we will have a suggestion and solution box. Racers that submit a suggestion and solution enacted by Root 66 will receive a complimentary entry into the next Root 66 event of their choice. Get those creative juices flowing and lets make this the best race season FOR racers BY racers!!
Root 66 Stage Race
This season Root 66 will offer a 2 day, 3 stage race that will award individual race day winners as well as an overall GC winner. Check the race schedule for more information on race dates and times! Root 66 Race Series......Thinking outside the box!!
Iron Rider Award
Any racer who starts and finishes all 14 series races will be eligible for the Iron Rider Award.
Each rider who finishes all 14 races will be entered into a drawing and a winner will be drawn from each of the combined categories to receive an Iron Rider Award. All riders entered into the drawing will receive an Iron Rider Commemorative t-shirt.
Catergories for the Iron Rider award will be as follows: beginner women, beginner men, sport women, sport men, expert women, expert men, singlespeed, pro/semi-pro men and women.
